When I first saw this house, the front lawn was nothing but dirt. Now, we’ve given it a total facelift with new landscaping and fresh flowers, instantly improving the curb appeal to this stellar corner property. I love that you have this gorgeous wraparound porch, and I wanted to bring it back to its original glory. Beautiful. Look at that. Previously, this classic shirtwaist front porch was standing out in all its glory. Now, we’ve cleaned it up and added new beadboard to the ceiling with a dark stain. Your porch that wraps around is fantastic, but this might be the most beautiful door I’ve ever restored. Wow. That’s saying something!! Before, the red front door was solid, but seriously weathered, so we gave it a rich dark stain to complement the ceiling.

Before, the kitchen was just too small for home buyers today, but we decided to expand the kitchen into the dining room to create one large, cohesive space. Prospective buyers have a certain level of expectation for a kitchen, so we installed custom-built cabinetry painted in an antique yellow and topped with a dramatic black soapstone countertop.
The back wall of the kitchen had two windows looking directly at the neighbor’s home, so we closed them up and created a show-stopping feature wall for the range. To take things to another level, we covered the walls with a retro-style wall pattern using three different-shaped tiles, giving the space a nostalgic effect. This is what potential buyers are looking for.
PANTRY

Before, the pantry was just an empty stone shelf, so we lined the walls with custom shelves, and we added lower cabinets topped with Carrara marble. For the flooring, we put in a striking gray-on-gray tile in a hexagon pattern. This is perfect. Such a useful space. Feels historic. It does. Beautiful. Beautiful. And now, the main living spaces. We honored this nearly 100-year-old home by complementing the rich, historic architecture with modern accents throughout.
LIVING ROOM

The fireplace was completely intact, but needed a complete makeover. Now, we have a striking white and gray marble surround with electric movement, wrapping the fireplace and giving it a captivating appearance. And I love this color that you chose here. It’s bright. This is beautiful. Originally, the living room had been demoed, but left unfinished. So we started by replacing the walls and dousing them in a deep blue-green color that washes the room.
CONSERVATORY

Before, the conservatory had pink paint peeling from the walls, but it was loaded with character. So we revived the space with a brilliant ruby red color, paired with a vibrant floral wallpaper on the ceiling.
In this neighborhood, prospective buyers appreciate unique design touches. In this space, everywhere you look is visually stunning, from floor to ceiling. I love it. I feel like it fits the vision perfectly. Go big or go home, right??
HALF BATH

This used to be a doctor’s room where a doctor would see patients. Now, it was just an awkward space, so we created a superb powder room that you’re only gonna find in this house. We created a one-of-a-kind wall-to-wall marble vanity with electric movement, scalloped edging, and an exquisite vessel sink. From the front of the house all the way through, I wanted this to be impressive, and I think this is my favorite half bath I’ve ever done! The scallops!

MAIN BEDROOM

The bedroom was run down with a non-functioning fireplace, so we gave the room a complete makeover. We removed the old fireplace and added a classic trim detail to all the walls, giving the space a timeless appeal. The old main bedroom had paint peeling from every wall. Now we’ve cleaned it up with a subdued taupe color, giving the space a crisp yet relaxed vibe to give the room some extra character. We created custom drapes with a vibrant fabric unfolding its own story within the space. The bedroom had standard height ceilings but there was space in the attic that was unused, so we vaulted the ceiling up to 14 feet to give the space a more expansive feel.
Now, we have an elegant aged brass chandelier with cleavages and an old silver & blue finish with crystal teardrops reflecting shallow glints of light throughout the space.

The original bathroom was non-existent, so we created a beautiful en suite bathroom with a white and gray marble subway tile across the room. Oh, and the closet. And it is an antique tub that we found and repurposed it, and we re-enameled the bright white on the inside and then custom did the soft blue on the bottom. Wow.
To bring some old-world charm into this main bath, we added an antique clawfoot soaker tub with a soothing light blue base and polished chrome floor-mounted faucet. Surrounding the tub, we added the same marble tile in a herringbone pattern to match the shower alcove. For the vanity, we chose an antique furniture base. We installed two under-mount sinks in a stunning gray quartzite top with two vintage-inspired chrome wall-mount faucets. For the backdrop, we set the vanity against a glamorous natural stone tile backsplash with antique mirror accents from floor to ceiling.

For the lighting, we topped off the room with a five-globe aged brass chandelier, tying it all together. I’m so impressed. Isn’t this such a great closet? It really is. And such a huge selling point for potential buyers. For this main suite, our goal was to create a space that feels like it could have been here 100 years ago. But with all the modern touches for a main suite today!
