What’s better than lavish, lakes and luxury? Dive into how my team and I take a completely gutted shell of a lakefront home and transform it into a luxury oasis! This magnificent property gets a complete makeover from top to bottom.

EXTERIOR

For the exterior of this house, we didn’t do a dramatic change, but what we did do was super impactful by getting rid of the three pained window on the front. We cleaned it up with new front windows and a new front door that had no grids or mullions to break up the light, and just making it feel a little bit more modern! Then for the front door, we were able to upgrade it to a much more modern aesthetic with a five divided light front door, all new light fixtures to really refresh everything and give it a crisp, brighter, white finish with black creme and doors! 

LIVING ROOM

When we started on this project, there really wasn’t much to speak of because it was all demoed out. Immediately, I knew we needed something super dramatic on the fireplace with sight lines out those windows. The view is everything, but this room really needed a wow factor with such high ceilings. It was calling out for a more modern aesthetic in such a traditional styled home. Adding this marble mosaic tile in a matte and high gloss finish climbing the entire wall in that beautiful black really gives such a statement to the room especially with the two chandeliers in gold and black make such a dramatic statement. Flanking each side with these beautiful green sofas feels like you’ve just brought the outdoors in.

The staircase was a huge eyesore. AND was so heavy and dated feeling before. It had this funny little window in the wall, opening up to the loft that really didn’t make much sense. So, we closed up the hole, but then we opened up the staircase, making the stairs float with a banister to the downstairs, giving the perception of so much more depth. Then adding a little bit of fun, we wrapped the handrail in this beautiful leather! Chefs kiss!

KITCHEN

The kitchen. Ann’s big request was modern functional and getting three bar stools. In this tiny little kitchen. It was a definite challenge, but we came up with this super creative solution working with KC Custom Hardwoods to build this pivot island that functions so fantastically for this entire space. It actually moves left and right and is this gorgeous walnut slab from right here in Kansas City, cased in a smoky black epoxy that I had so much fun making. Then, we topped the island with these beautiful basket weave light fixtures giving it this really natural feeling and marble tile surround on all the walls to make it feel modern and interesting, but super natural in this entire area. We opened up the wall to create a huge window that’s a pass through to that beautiful deck and all of that crazy, beautiful view! So you’ve got lots and lots of natural light pouring into the room.

We didn’t stop the tile on just the backsplash. We actually climbed the entire wall behind the open shelving to give it a cohesive and seamless look all the way around the room. In the pantry again we’ve got a great view even in here. We added an extra sink that gave it that almost bar- like vibe. We added this floating shelving system to hold the beverages clear glass light fixtures and the countertops with a black quartzite and great hardware to really, make the space pop. To also notice, the entire room is the same color ceiling walls, cabinetry, making it feel super rich! 

MAIN BEDROOM

I wanted the main bedroom to feel luxurious textural and interesting. We painted all of the walls in a lime wash finish with this beautiful praline colored paint, and then added a custom-made headboard wall with beautiful velvet in this olive, mustard-green color that felt so rich and interesting. It really gave the room what was kind of a small bedroom, a really huge impact. Instead of cluttering the space with lamps on the nightstands, we added pendant lights hanging over the top in a super modern vibe that makes everything feel super seamless. As you walk in, we custom built a desk system for the corner by the windows for a more modern secretary style vibe.

MAIN BATHROOM

In the main bathroom. we went with these gorgeous Kohler floating vanities that have great functionality and then these beautiful quartz countertops with striking veining, adding three sconces in this modern style with round mirrors and beautiful very modern black and gold plumbing hardware. One of Ann’s big requests was that she needed a bathtub, but not just a bath tub. She wanted it to have a spa feel, so we gave her this fantastic rectangular soaking tub and plumbed it to fill from the ceiling. We wrapped the faucet in this beautiful walnut frame and then filled it with a spa mossy vibe to get it to frame that faucet and the entire area with the rock wall and floor. It all comes together to create the perfect waterfall effect-just like an outdoor spa oasis! With a glass encased shower carrying the rock tile throughout and then that porcelain 12″ by 24″ tiles up the wall and continued the black and gold bathroom hardware in this bathroom as well with the linear drain to really keep a seamless look!
