This gorgeous stone mansion was wrecked by flooding and water damage leaving it moldy and unsightly. My team and I not only restored this estate to its former glory but redesigned the layout as well making for a dramatic reveal!

It’s hard to improve on perfection with an exterior like this! It’s been good for a hundred years, and it’s going to stay good for another hundred years. That ivy growing all over it and just freshening up the planters-you’ve got yourself a perfect exterior!

KITCHEN

Inside though, the kitchen was maybe one of the smallest kitchens we’ve ever worked in. It was teeny-tiny and definitely not working for Jennifer and her family. We were able to remove the kitchen, take out the half bath and a tiny staircase to the back of the hallway upstairs, and turn this kitchen into a chef’s dream. Jennifer wanted something timeless and classic just like her home, and everything in this house was designed keeping that hundred year old feeling in mind. So, we chose classic and timeless finishes in this soft, muted-white cabinetry with a beautiful corner detail on the cabinet base. To make it super custom and unique, topping it with carrera marble doing an extra thick countertop on the island to make it more defined on top of those walnut cabinets and then putting three stunning pendant lights over the island that really feel a little bit modern but so traditional. We topped the countertops and climbed the walls all the way up completely to the ceiling with carrera marble, and over the sink added beautiful, sconces, that light the area. It all works!

LIVING & SUN ROOM

This sunroom had been updated with a terracotta tile- my guess is sometime in the 90’s. It was definitely not accurate for the time period of this home and felt really awkward. A traditional checkerboard pattern floor is exactly what could have been here, a hundred years ago, but we wanted to make the whole space come to life. So we painted all the trim work this beautiful dusty blue, including the ceiling with a high gloss enamel paint to really elevate the entire look. 

POWDER ROOM

The powder room…one of my favorites of all time!! I love this powder room space. It was a tiny mudroom before that was really just a drop zone. We added a ton of personality with the checkerboard floor, a marble sink and a custom little baby vanity cabinet for the sink to sit on, and then this crazy beautiful wallpaper. I love the beautiful cranes, flying out of the trees in this soft pink. We really wanted to highlight the wallpaper and bring those coral tones out. So we painted the cabinetry, the ceiling the walls and the trim all of this rich, beautiful color. Through this wallpaper up, it feels historically accurate with a very glam vibe about it. Those lights are pretty fantastic as well!

MAIN BEDROOM

This main bedroom was teeny tiny and really not working. If you watch the episode, you can see that it was a large room to just have a couple of chairs in. But then, the bedroom was so tight and crowded with way too many windows for a bedroom. So, we transformed the space, removing a closet that was super small and dated, and created a beautiful bedroom with trim work, built-in sconces, a gorgeous chandelier and then wrapped the room in this dusty-blue historic color that feels super rich and elegant. That fireplace! We kept that trim, detail, going all the way around the room and then around the fireplace did this gorgeous stair-step stone look in black marble surrounding the fireplace keeping the historic details accurate, but refacing it with something more modern and a little bit more to Jennifer’s liking. We added those gorgeous acrylic sconces to top it off. It’s definitely a glam look for a historic home, and I think it works absolutely perfectly!

MAIN CLOSET

One of the things that wasn’t working was their closet space. They basically didn’t have any. So we were able to give them a huge walk-in closet, full-length mirror, tons of storage and brought the laundry room from the basement up into their main closet. To add a little bit of custom detail, we added these two hamper drops in the laundry room where it just as nice and easy feeling like an elevated detail to have the circle cut out in the cabinetry. You don’t even have to open the door to throw your clothes in the dirty laundry! We topped the room with one of Jennifer’s lights that was in the mud space previously. She loved the light, so we repurposed it giving it that same glam look we’ve gone for in a lot of the other spaces. We wrapped the room and in that same soft gray-blue from the bedroom, and then added this beautiful traditional and timeless wallpaper to the walls in a soft, yellow, white and blue. It’s all just magical. 

MAIN BATHROOM

My goodness, this main bathroom before and after doesn’t even feel like the same house. The bathroom was so tiny and not working. They had pedestal sinks. It was very choppy and the water damage was a real thing. We were able to open up the space taking out a little bit of room out of the bedroom to make a true main bathroom, giving them double vanities, beautiful mirrors with great lighting, a private toilet, but more importantly, this stunning wet room. We trimmed it in black marble with white carrera marble surrounding the wet room, taking the tub and stepping it up just a bit, giving it a moment to appreciate how beautiful that bathtub really is. The entire room, just surrounded in gorgeous. Marble feels so elegant and classic perfect for this home!

HALF BATHROOM

And then the kids bathroom where all the damage started. This is where the sink overflowed and caused all the damage to the main bathroom and entryway. We were able to completely redo the space, updating it with carrera marble floors, a beautiful burgundy subway tile in the shower with a gold shower cabinet, a gold shower door and trim kit that makes everything feels super elevated. We painted the cabinetry this buttery yellow and kept that same custom bench cushion and pillows to make the space feel really elevated and one of a kind.
