Wow, and here we are! Season 6. I can’t believe the finale was this week. This mansion was plagued with foundation issues and structural problems, leaving the homeowner in dire straits. After years of trying to repair the issues on their own, my team and I came in to fix it all, taking this house from broken to beautiful!

EXTERIOR

Amy and Peter really didn’t like the color of their 1987 Tudor, so we washed the entire exterior in a rich charcoal gray, dramatically improving the curb appeal. When I first saw the house, Amy and Peter’ s single front door screamed ‘ Amy and Peter’ s’ single front door lady. So we put in mahogany French doors with four inlay bevel glass panels. Look at the window it. Originally, there was a small narrow window above the front door and it looked more like an afterthought. Now we have a large picture window creating a more balanced look for the front of the house.

ENTRYWAY

Originally, the foyer was dark and uninviting, so we painted the walls in a soft gray with beige undertones to lighten everything up. Before the small window above the door was doing nothing to brighten up the space. Now we have a large picture window letting in all kinds of light but giving you such a clean look.

GREAT ROOM

Before, there was a tiny and dysfunctional wet bar in the corner of the room. Now we’ ve built a huge, one-of-a-kind, 8 foot by 11 foot high custom bar made of golden brown hickory with striking grain patterns throughout. Topped with a gorgeous caldera blue quartzite countertop. One of the best features of the bar are the two turntables on each end that showcase hidden favorites for special occasions.

For the fireplace, I wanted something that was dramatic, so I used this beautiful blue-gray quartzite stone to wrap the whole face. Initially, the fireplace was torn out and nonexistent, so we continued the caldera blue quartzite, pulling it through to the fireplace and wrapping it with a dual mantle, creating a dimensional effect with dual waterfalls inside and out. Then we added a marble tile in a diamond pattern, blending subtle tones of blue, white, and gray up to the ceiling. Previously, Amy and Peter had no idea what to do with the awkward space at the back of the room. So we decided to build a pantry for the kitchen and create a feature wall for the great room!

DINING ROOM

The dining room was its own thing. Originally, the dining room was separated from the kitchen. Now the kitchen is connected all the way through to the dining room, creating one large gathering space. Before, the dining room was dull with a table and chairs; Amy and Peter didn’t even want. So we installed a chic, impressionistic wallpaper with a modern raindrop effect, creating a dramatic statement with a distinctive style.

KITCHEN

The original kitchen was a dysfunctional layout and way too small. Now the entire space is opened up, from the kitchen to the dining room, creating one big open floor plan. When I first saw the kitchen, my eyes went straight to the tiny island. So we built a huge custom island with a five-foot sink. We topped it off with a white quartzite stone with green and gray movement throughout. The perimeter is all the quartzite with the linear lines to just draw your eye across. And then the islands are a little bit more movement and personality. Previously, Amy and Peter’ s kitchen was very red, which is fine in smaller doses. So we redesigned the entire kitchen with stunning hickory, custom cabinets.

HEARTH ROOM

Originally, the hearth room was just another yellow room straight out of the 80s. Now we’ ve painted the space with a cool gray color, giving the room a refreshed look. I wanted something in this space that really draws your eye to the back wall, so that it feels like its own space, and the tile is actually a ceramic tile that feels very handmade, and it’ s a little bit of a mess but it’ s a little bit of a mess, each one is a little bit different they’ Re, like perfectly imperfect, I like that before the old brick fireplace was tired and it looked like it’ d seen better days, so we gave it a complete modern makeover with a sleek fluted ceramic tile in a faux concrete finish lining the entire wall.

MUDROOM

Before the laundry room was an 80′ s flashback. Now, Amy and Peter have a fully modernized laundry and back entrance with style and function this is super cool! The laundry room used to be a crammed room that everybody came in and out of. We wanted to make it more functional and give her a true mud space as well as a laundry space. And so we opened up the room, made it a little bigger and got her a cabinet that her washer and dryer actually install into and you can easily get your laundry in and out.

SUN ROOM

Furniture: NFM

Amy and Peter loved their old sun room but they were open to plussing it up a bit so we added a specialty table to the pass-through window and now they can enjoy seamless entertaining from the inside to the outside. It’s perfect for not missing any fun while in the kitchen!
